Holly Hunter was an American actress who became famous for the films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano earned her numerous awards which included an Oscar. She started her career as an actor on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. Passionate about acting since her school days she played Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. The fifth grade was the year that after having mumps she lost her hearing in her left ear. She did not allow that to stop her. She was a drama major at the college before moving from Pittsburgh to New York City to follow her goals. Hunter was stuck in the elevator of the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They collaborated to create Broadway Crimes of the Heart in which Hunter made her Broadway debut. When she moved from New York to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to find film roles. An supporting role was found for Swing Shift. Her professional career spans over thirty years and she's appeared in many TV movies, films and series. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame actress as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
